A bowl of any shape links back to a simple utilitarian object formed by hand in ancient societies. Even though these bowls may be for destined for more than plain utility use, and have been turned on a modern lathe in the  Whirling Wood Workshop, that fundamental link remains. As the bowl's form is established the wood reveals unique patterns formed from the internal structures of trees. In many cases these pattens guide the bowl's form to enable them to be displayed to their best and allow the trees to live on in new and useable forms beyond their natural life span.

All these bowls are finished with food-safe wax or oil and where a bowl is coloured this is achieved using a food safe dye.
