Following much prodding and poking by friends, and enquiries from exhibition visitors, the Website and Blog is born. The Blogs will be occasional musings, with a target of publishing once a fortnight. They will generally focus on workshop activities, projects, and other related topics.
As with any craft or technical activity, safety is key to the full enjoyment, and that is where competent tuition is key. I have been fortunate enough to have had live tuition from Les Thorne, Martin Saban-Smith, Colwin Way, and Glen Lucas. These professional wood turners championed proper tool selection and presentation as key elements of a safe turning experience. As a result, I am happy to say that, other than the odd 'mild disagreement" with skew chisels* the workshop has remained a safe and calm sanctuary where shavings and turned objects are produced.... All that said, I will tell the story of the bowl that wanted to be a fragmentation grenade next time.
Thanks for dropping by.
*Colwin's "Taming of the Skew"course pointed me in the right direction on that issue
